Friday Things #427
1. Isabelle is tall for her age and definitely outgrew the tricycles we have (her knees were hitting the handlebars), so this week she graduated to a big girl bike with training wheels and she has been SO EXCITED to practice riding it every single day. I love her determination no matter what she’s doing.
2. Enjoying our sunny days with riding bikes and mid-morning popsicles in the driveway!
3. This is our life:
4. Do you have a favorite non-stick skillet? Mine has become not so non-stick, womp womp. Would love your recommendations!
5. For anyone else who makes ridiculously long to-do lists, I am loving this to-do list trick.
6. We celebrated Duke’s 8th birthday this week! The kids were so excited to wish him happy birthday, make him a cake, and shower him with extra snuggles all day :)
7. I have always felt such a pull towards cozy, comforting recipes that remind me of home >> A New Dawn for Grandma Cooking
8. And on a related note, I love this idea of coming home dinners. Did you have one? Do your kids have one? My grandma’s breaded chicken is probably at the top of my list!
9. Are you cooking or baking anything fun for the 4th of July this weekend? My food plans are still up in the air!
10. TGIF! Lots of hugs for the birthday boy! :)
Check out Ballarini non stick pans, made in Italy. They have held up well for me. Going on 3 years with normal day to day use/abuse.
Happy 4th to you and your beautiful family.
I like the Member’s Mark 14” Aluminum Non-Stick Fry Pan from Sam’s Club. You’ll find it in the restaurant/catering supplies section of the store. It’s huge – perfect for a large family, heavy-duty (doesn’t warp), and is only $27.
Hi Michelle! I also recently purchased the OXO Good Grip Pro set of non stick pans after reading the ATK review of non stick pans. Had them a few months and like the weight and have been very happy with them.
Your kids are growing so fast. And Isabella’s beautiful hair – what this old gal with thin straight hair always longed for!
Enjoy the holiday weekend.
I love my non-stick cast iron skillets by Geoffrey Zakaria (sold by QVC). You get the best of cast iron and non-stick. They come in 3 sizes.
I bought a wonderful skillet from Our Place. Best non stick skillet I have ever had. Comes with a built in wooden spoon. A little pricey but worth every penny. I waited for a sale and paid $99. My only complaint is that they don’t have a bigger version – yet.
I have heard that using nonstick cooking spray makes nonstick pans stick! I ruined an All Clad pan that way…A few years ago I purchased a couple of inexpensive nonstick pans at Sur La Table (I loved the red handles and they were on sale!) and have NEVER used spray on them. They are still nonstick!
Isabelle is stylin! Looks adorable all dolled up for her bike ride.
The best meals were pretty much anything my Grandma made. Even things I didn’t typically like tasted wonderful when she made it. She truly cooked with love..it changed everything.
Happy birthday sweet, handsome Duke😊🎂🍨
My favourite nonstick frying pan is a ScanPan. You can even use sharp utensils with them.
I looked at the post about to-do lists and then went to the one on journaling. I think it might be a good idea for me. I seem to have lots of small pieces of paper floating around with things to buy, do, etc and I never get around to consolidating them.
Loved the Coming Home dinners link. A visit to the White Spot in Vancouver was always on the list and my mom often made a full turkey dinner while I was home along with her fabulous cabbage rolls.
Joseph looks like such a big brother standing between Isabelle & Dominic…Wow! They are such cute kids…their personalities shine!! 😍
Coming home meals? Yeah, my “kids” (32 & 37) always want certain meals when their families come for dinner. A biggie? Beef or chicken souvlaki, homemade sauce, strawberry pretzel salad, eclair cake & a baked chicken dish with a cream sauce, always served with buttered noodles, & peas & mushrooms hahaha!! I made it alot when they were growing. I taught school so coming home, getting a family meal on the table & getting them to wherever they had to be…a busy task!!
Girl, Isabelle is stylin’ it! Re. skillets, ATK rated the OXO Good Grips as tops AND relatively inexpensive. They had a sale thru their site, the 8″, 10″ and 12″ for about $90, ~30% off retail a few months ago. The 10″ gets near-daily use, the 8″ 1/wk maybe, haven’t used the 12″ yet. (Cooking for only 2, but family coming throughout July, so….) They have been perfect. Only problem, lids are not available. Shame on you OXO! The 10″ can be purchased w/ one, not available separately-how dumb is that? Bought an oven-safe silicone and glass one that fits the 10 and 12 (Walfos) which works but is HUGE. Happy Fourth, everybody!
Awww, Happy 8th Birthday to Duke. I miss my Goldens so much and enjoy seeing the pictures of him and Judith with the kids.
I love my Scanpan CS+, (made in Denmark) from Sur La Table. I bought the 11 inch on sale for $99.00. It is a heavy pan, with an incredible non-stick finish , and browns foods wonderfully well. (I always wash it by hand.)
Looking forward to watching Yellowstone in the fall when the days are shorter and the cold weather calls for snuggling under a soft throw or blanket.
Happy Fourth of July. Have a safe holiday with your family and friends.
We recently bought this non stick pan and we love it! I highly recommend it! https://fromourplace.com/products/always-essential-cooking-pan?variant=32876763021387&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=us_shopping-smart_bestsellers&gclid=EAIaIQobChMInPKd59zE8QIVP8qUCR2W4APkEAQYASABEgJd2_D_BwE
I also had a problem with my pan lately, if you pan is still in good shape which mine was. Google how to clean non stick pan so it doesn’t stick. pretty much clean
with baking soda water and vinegar and then oil it.
Best non-stick pans: Scanpan, Made In Cookware. Misen, Made In may currently be the best, with Scan Pan second, and Misen third. Missen has the best pricing; Made In was recently rated superior to AllClad.
The Greenpan nonstick skillets (and really all their cookware) is amazing! Happy 4th to you and your sweet family.
Senstrate skillet and pots.. Amazon they are totally awesome
Cook’s Illustrated recommends nonstick skillets from OXO Good Grips. The 8″, 10″, and 12″ all won their respective testings.
I recently purchased Michaelangelo non-stick granite pans. They are light weight and nothing sticks. They are also very easy to clean. I love them! I bought some on Amazon and the Michaelangelo site.
Guess the first one didn’t go thru. The old iron skillets are the best to use.
F seasoned right they won’t stick. Better than those teflon bad for you and the environment.
Did you see the Yellowstone announcement that the show won’t return until November?
Happy Birthday to the birthday doggie.
I highly recommend cookware by Curtis Stone. I have replaced all of my pots and pans with his non-stick cookware. It’s only available from HSN.
After my latest cooking disaster, I ran over to Walmart and picked up a Farberware ceramic 10 inch nonstick skillet. It’s affordable and works like a charm! Happy 4th to you and your beautiful family!
My Coming Home meal is my mom’s meatballs, with sweet sausage and some form of pasta. It just takes me back to every Sunday evening growing up. She isn’t even Italian, but my dad is 100%, so it was always our Sunday dinner.
As for nonstick pans, I went with the recommendation from America’s Test Kitchen and recently bought Oxo Good Grips Pro 10″ and 12″ skillets. I’ve had them for maybe 6 months and they’re great. I purchased them from Amazon.
I’m baking brookies this weekend and making a red, white and blue trifle. I may throw in some M&M cookies also.
Happy #8 to Duke!
Did you hear? Yellowstone not coming back until November.
Oh well, maybe I can get some stuff done.🤷
Happy 8th Birthday baby boy. So cute.
Just got a fabulous nonstick skillet from Made In. Restaurant tested, made in Italy, absolutley perfect.
Regarding the non stick pan, I recently got a Misen non stick that I LOVE – this thing is built to last. It is a bit heavy, which might just be a “me thing” bc I have trouble with my hands. But it’s fab.
I am also loving my MadeIn pans. I gave up all of my All Clad in favor of the MadeIn. The All Clad handles are not solid and they bothered my hands so much I could barely drain pasta without my hubs’ help! They make a non stick also which I do not have, but I love my other ones. Beautifully made – in the All Clad caliber of pans.
Coming home dinners are definitely a thing in our family! My two girls always request baked macaroni (a mac and cheese casserole) when they come home. My son-in-law has now begun requesting it as well.
Swiss Diamond has an excellent non stick pan collection.
Beautiful family. Enjoy and stay healthy keep posting delicious recipes you are sharing with us all. Heartfelt thanks and Happy Independence day to you and your family.
Although not fancy, the non-stick pans at Sams’s Club have proven to be pretty great in the kitchen. From stove top to oven is fantastic!
