Friday Things #520
1. On Monday and Tuesday this week, we traveled to New York for Dominic’s scans and 6th neuroblastoma vaccine. On our way home, his oncologist called to tell us that his scans are still clear of disease and he remains in remission 🙏🏻🙌🏻 Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for him and send good thoughts his way! His next vaccine injection will not be for another five months, but we will go back around mid-summer for routine scans.
2. We made the most of the beautiful weather on Monday and the fact that his appointments were done at noon and ventured to Central Park for the afternoon. Dominic had been wanting to see the statue of Balto the sled dog ever since reading the book many months ago, and was so excited to finally see it in person. Then we went to the Central Park Zoo, and he got a big, messy ice cream cone on the way back to the hotel 😄
3. A couple of weeks ago while the kids were still on break, they were hanging out and playing, and Isabelle got herself a chair to sit on, a tiara and wand, and announced that she was the queen. She hired Dominic as her pirate/guard and told Joseph that if he didn’t stop talking about sports, he’d have to leave the kingdom 😂
4. I love a good post on fridge organization 🤓
5. On that note, I also love checklists and this 6/10 cleaning method has me intrigued! I’ve been trying to do one load of laundry a day for a year or two now and it’s definitely a game changer. I’m always amazed when I skip a day because when I do it everyday, the loads aren’t terribly large, but when I miss one day, suddenly it turns into a MASSIVE load of laundry and then of course folding and putting away takes longer!
6. Have you made any favorite dinner or dessert recipes lately? I’d love to hear what everyone is loving in their own kitchens!
7. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I’m wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for cooler to use for keeping food cold after a trip to the grocery store? I went to Costco before picking up the kids from school a couple of weeks ago and it was warm; while I did grab a thermal bag and some ice packs, it wasn’t nearly large enough to fit the Costco-sized things I needed to put in it! I’ve seen many people mention the Scout cooler bags for pools/beach and this one is the biggest I could find, but I’m wondering if anyone has used them for this grocery purpose? Of if you have any other recommendations? I’m not really looking to invest in something like a large Yeti cooler or something like that.
8. And since we’re talking about warmer weather, does anyone have a self-tanner that they love? I haven’t used one in years, but want to give it a spin this year. Give me your best recommendations!
9. TV things… I don’t believe we finished either of the couple of shows we were watching, but just started Time (BritBox) and have watched the first couple of episodes, and so far it’s very good!
10. TGIF! Sweet Duke says hi!
So happy for Dominic and all of you.🩷
I always love to read the “Weekend Dish.” I feel like I’m catching up with my friend. I always love to read the good news about Dominic. I’m glad you add fun to your NY trip! I’m curious, what kind of icecream did you get? We had a severe Thunderstorm the other day. I love it! My husband not so much! Here in Texas, tornado time is April and May. But luckily we put in a storm shelter. And, I might add we have had to use it a few times. If we get the warning early of a tornado, my sweet husband goes down in the shelter and cleans it of any spiders, critters and cobwebs! Otherwise, I would just have to be taken up by the tornado. If you ever just want to get away…..we live in the country, and you could stay in our home. Kind of like VRBO, but not. We have 10 kids and 31 grandkids so we travel frequently to visit them. Thanks for all the good you to for so many!
You are so kind, Shrilene! And what a beautiful family you have to enjoy! The ice cream cone just came from an ice cream truck on the street :)
So happy that Dominic is doing so well. I pray for him every day and am trusting for his complete healing.
Your dogs are so lovely!
So happy to hear Dominic’s good news!!!!! Will continue go pray for your beautiful family. ❤🙏I’m a native New Yorker and have only been to Central Park once, many years ago.
Continued prayers for you and your family. What good news about Dominic!! Blessed!
I am so thrilled to hear that Dominic continues to be in remission! It makes me cry with happiness every time you post the good news. You are in my prayers daily, God bless your family.
This makes me so very happy about Dominic’s news! Your family is so sweet. They are so lucky to have your support!
Sending hugs, Donna 💛
I like La Roche Posay self-tanner. Looks natural.
Jordan Essentials has sunless tanners which work by interacting with the natural sugars in your skin.
They look great and no orange!! https://shop.jordanessentials.com/#/shop/from/1243?categoryID=174
So happy to hear about Dominic’s good news. YAY! I just bought a new air fryer and am having fun trying new recipes like salmon bites. Have a great weekend.
It brings me hope that we have a Heavenly Father who loves each of us. He wants us to be happy. I am so glad He is aware of each of us and the trials we go through. I am grateful for your “HAPPY” news from the Dr. I’ll continue to pray for you and your sweet family. He is aware of you! Put your trust in Him. :):)
Congratulations Dominic on your positive results!!
So happy that Dominic’s scans had a positive outcome. Your in my thoughts and prayers.
Praises for good report and able to include some fun on last trip.
Will continue to pray.
School out soon my year has flown
Glad Dominic continues to do well. And Isabelle is a hoot! You don’t want to mess with the Queen. Have a good weekend!
Hi Michelle!
A wonderful recipe comes from a Newsday article from April 30, 1986 that a friend sent me this past year! It’s mushroom sauce, a Ukrainian staple (though I never heard of it from my Ukrainian grandma Anna). Onion and mushrooms sauteed in butter, with a little flour, a cup of beef broth, salt, and a cup of sour cream! I serve it on steak. Soooo scrumptious and savory.
So happy to hear about Dominic being clear… What a blessing! I am using the Bondi Sands tanner that Costco has right now that is pretty good and a great deal. Jergens Instant Sun mousse is a standby favorite. St Tropez is very good but the price is not good. Have a great weekend!
God bless Dominic!!
Keeping the prayers & positive thoughts heading his way! ❤️❤️
Such good news for Dominic! Hope it continues! Isabel is hilarious!
So happy for Dominic. He’s such a cutie-pie!
So happy to hear the good news about Dominic! Continuing to pray for him that he stays in remission forever and that he is completely cured! Your Isabelle is a treasure – someone has to keep the boys in line. She cracks me up! So happy things are going well for you and your family!
I recently tried a green bean curry & also Jamaican coconut curry chicken.
The recipes were off instagram reel so not as easy as a book but the flavour delicious was like the home cooking I’ve been lucky enough to try.
Self tan I use garnier or dove gradual tan but I go for dark shade so less applications needed.
Great news on Dominic. I really look forward to your Friday posts! I have tried a million kinds of self tanner and what I hate the most about them is the smell. I just can’t get past it. I now use Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops in the dark. You put the drops into your own moisturizer and apply. The drops have no scent, so the only scent you have is what moisturizer you use. I LOVE the Aveda Beautifying body lotion. I believe I purchased the self tanning drops from QVC when they had a special going, but I think you can buy them on Amazon as well. Good luck!!
Thrilled to hear about continued healing for Dominic!! And I predict Isabelle will go far with such a great take-charge attitude!🤗 Made a new brownie recipe this last week – looking forward to pasta salads fast the weather gets warmer! Have a great weekend with your kids!

Dominic ”scans are still clear of disease and he remains in remission”
Please find me ways to say THANK YOU LORD….. Keep this kid and his family blessed.
Hi, Michelle,
As always, glad to read good news regarding Dominic. So happy for all of you.
Maybe everyone already knows this, but, regardless of which cooler you purchase, you should chill it the day before you use it. I keep simple plastic grocery bags with ice packs in them in my freezer. The day before I use my cooler, I put one bag in the cooler. Next morning, a quick swap with the other bag. Good to go!
Great news about Dominic! You have found a great team of Medical Professionals. Prayers for continued support. I love the story about Isabelle! She is the Queen of the Castle! Watch out boys!! So sweet! Many prayers and love to the BEB family. Have a great weekend!
I thank the Lord for the great news that Dominic remains in remission, and my prayer is that he continues to be in good health. It’s so wonderful to see his great big smile!
Dear Michelle & family,

Loved reading of all 3 kids playing together with Isabell as Queen😊
Glad to see Duke also. He wasn’t in last couple of Friday post and I was hoping he was doing ok.

Wonderful news for all about Dominic’s scans and prayers will continue. Love Queen Isabelle and her wonderful brothers!
Happy weekend to all!
I am so, so happy to see that Dominic’s scans were clear! Will continue praying for him. He is certainly a brave little guy!
Great, Great news for Dominic. Such a blessing and continued daily prayers for all of you,
I love the Isabelle kingdom. So cute!
Hi Michelle,
I am so happy to hear the good news about Dominic!!!! He is one tough little guy and I will continue to pray for him. The power of prayer is incredible!
I use a Loving Tan self-tanner and I love i!!. It lasts roughly a week to 10 days and looks very natural. I wear dark even though I am pretty white and it does not go on too dark and it really makes for a beautiful tan. I used it last Sunday for the first time this year since our weather forecast here was calling for the 80’s for the first time this past week. When it gets in the 80’s, it is time for shorts for me. I use it everywhere but on my face. They do make one for the face but I prefer to use bronzer for tanning my face.
I hope all of you have a great weekend and enjoy the weather!!
Great news for Dominic. He has a wonderful support system from family , medical professionals, and his BEB family. Prayers continue. That story about Isabella- those boys are in trouble!! She is “in charge”. Wait til she’s older.
