Friday Things #521
1. Last weekend, everyone was done passing strep around, and we finally celebrated Isabelle’s birthday with our extended family. I offered to re-do the unicorn cake from her actual birthday, but she requested an ice cream cake instead for this celebration (girl after my own heart!).
2. My kids are absolutely enamored with my cousin’s two boys and LOVE it when they come over. I snapped this picture of Joseph with her oldest and oh my goodness, I couldn’t believe how big and grown up he looks, almost like a mini teenager 🥹
3. Just a normal day/evening for Dominic… always hanging upside down or somersaulting somewhere 😍
4. Liked this perspective from a recent James Clear newsletter:
“Life is harder when you expect a lot of the world and little of yourself. Life is easier when you expect a lot of yourself and little of the world. High standards, low expectations.”
5. Love this >> 7 Ways to Simplify Your To-Do List
6. Today is National Soft Pretzel Day! If you missed my soft pretzel recipe that I sent out yesterday, be sure to check it out and whip up a batch!
7. I finished reading The Maid this week; it was a good, fairly quick read. About halfway through the book, it was making me sad/irritated about how people in this world take advantage of others, but it had a good ending 👍🏻 Next up: Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez; I had selected her new release, Just for the Summer, from my Book of the Month subscription (gifted to me for Christmas!), but then found out she had two older books that were sort of part of the same series – Part of Your World and Yours Truly. So, I’m starting with the first one!
8. And speaking of books, have we talked about Ina Garten’s upcoming memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens? I cannot wait!!
9. We finished watching Time (BritBox), which we both loved (there are two seasons). We are now watching Guilt, which is okay, it sort of gives me Fargo vibes. I also need to watch the Billy Joel concert from Madison Square Garden that was on CBS!
10. TGIF! Judith waiting for me and Duke to make our way upstairs for the evening 🩷
I used to receive the Friday Things email but no Longer get them can you please sign me back up. Thank you I really enjoy reading them.
Hi Robin, It looks like the email you supplied with your comment wasn’t subscribed to emails, so I have added you. You should begin receiving emails again, if you have any issues, let me know!
Thanks for sharing your family news with us. Happy birthday to Isabelle. I love Ina Garden and look forward to reading her book. Have a great weekend!
Billy Joel’s concert is amazing, he certainly still has it.
I am a big fan of Friday Things! You open your heart to share your special family moments and all things you love. It’s the Friday smile…😊
I love Abby Jimenez’s books getting ready to read her new one soon I’m in the middle of Camilla Isleys’ baby, hit me one more time it’s a second chance romance that has a twist I should have seen coming. I’m really enjoying the books with incredibly smart techy women. Someone I also love if you enjoy books based in UK is Shari Low, her books are well done life is messy (Dad has two family’s is a sample) there’s romance great friends and a happy ending some tears. Many of her books are on kindle unlimited. Finally, if you don’t know about Book Bub please check them out. My husband learned about them it’s a site that offers book recommendations based on your specifications some free many discounts and you can opt for everday emails or once a week, I’m shocked how often I place a full priced book on my wishlist and a month or two or so there is a discount like less than half. They offer books on all the major book sites. Sometimes I find nothing for a week then the following week 3-4. Great way to keep track of what you’ve read too. Apologies for long comment books are a love of mine since I was a kid they have been my escape, opened up the world and made me happy.
Wonderful to see the family enjoying themselves and family.
Happy Birthday sweet girl!!
Adore your “Friday things”. Love keeping up with you and yours.
