Friday Things #589

1. Hello and happy Friday! It’s been a minute; I hope you all have had a wonderful start to the spring season and are enjoying some warmer weather and lighter evenings!
2. A quick Dominic update – the last I shared, his scan had shown continued improvement though not yet back in remission, and he was to do two more rounds of treatment and then re-scan to reevaluate. He just completed his second of those two rounds last week after being delayed two weeks in a row due to low counts. He’s feeling really good this week, and we will head back to NY for scans in a couple of weeks to see where things are and what his next steps will be.
3. Joseph and Isabelle are both doing track this spring, which is new for both of them, and they are enjoying it! (Dominic did it last year and is signed up for this year, but hasn’t been able to make it yet.)
4. The kids were on break the week after Easter, and although Dominic was due to be in treatment, he got delayed, which turned out to be a lovely week of us all home together, plus we got to be home for Isabelle’s birthday; she turned EIGHT! The kids got to relax and just play a ton, AND I introduced them to Full House! One of my favorites growing up, and they all liked it 😁
5. What have you read recently? I finished The Lincoln Highway while I was at the hospital with Dominic last week, but oof, it was a slog for me. I didn’t love it. I just began Theo of Golden after receiving so many recommendations for it!
6. Why Cookbooks are More Approachable Than Ever Right Now >> What are your favorite types of cookbooks?

7. Do you journal regularly? Here are 46 morning journaling prompts if you’d like to give it a go!
8. The NHL playoffs… ughhhh our Penguins, breaking our hearts! I’d love to see them win four games in a row, but that is highly unlikely. It’s been a fun season watching them, and I was hoping for a little more from the playoff run!
9. What have you been watching lately? I saw that season two of Paradise came out, so I want to catch up on that!
10. TGIF! These two just had great checkups!

So good to hear from you, Michelle! Glad you had a lovely week together with your family at home. Sounds like Dominic has had a little bit of a struggle with his numbers, but we continue to be positive with you and count on prayers being answered.
Thank you for the update on your family!
Prayers continue for Dominic🙏🏻…when I read your medical reports I am reminded of “God only gives us what we can handle”. Your family is so strong & brave….❤️
Isabelle with the potholder!! Cracked me up…a flash to my past….long ago! Love it.
And of course..the puppies!! 🐾

Just started watching ‘For All Mankind’ very engaging – a good read ‘The Names’ by Florence Knapp but do enjoy Theo of Golden – I really thought it was a gem- Thank you for the update on Dominic – keep him in my daily prayers🙏 glad you all got a joyful week to celebrate Isabelle and relax – and the puppy pic😍
Try Simon Brett’s amusing books. No stressing there.

So happy to hear from you but sorry the Dominic is still going through treatment. Hope is gets well soon. Thinking of you and the family. Keep us posted on family happenings
You are a strong woman and a wonderful Mother, you have such a beautiful family and Dominic is always in our prayers!
I have been rewatching “All Creatures Great and Small” on Masterpiece Theatre. There are 6 seasons and they just signed for seasons 7 and 8. A wonderful, wholesome show about an animal vet in the Dales in England during the late 30’s into 40’s and WWII. Wonderful cast and lovely heartfelt stories. I love it and hope you watch it too. I’m sure you will enjoy the series.
Still praying for Dominic and your family. I love to read cookbooks from Mississippi. I have been many times to the Viking Cooking School in Greenwood Ms. there is a nice bookstore there with many interesting cookbooks and others as well. I enjoy trying the many southern foods and recipes. Thank you for your postings.
So glad for the update on Domenic, he is in my prayers every night. Praying that our
Lord makes him cancer free..he is a little warrior. Y’all are such a strong family, goldies
included in this…love to all of you…
My husband and I pray for Dominic every night. We pray for the absence of cancer once and for all. Thanks for the update!

Great to hear from you again. Your babies are so grown up !! Prayers for continued improvement – I have a folder full of your recipes and love to go through them.
So glad things are looking up for Dominic, continuing to pray for you all. And wow, Isabelle turning 8 is so wild! I share your Penguins stress…it has been a rough week to say the least 😭
Good morning, I have been using your sticky buns recipe for some time now and everyone raves about them. In fact, I have a party to go to tonight and have been wondering what to make. Guess what, it’s going to be sticky buns!!
You asked what have you read lately? Well my wife, who also happens to be a Michelle, is in a book club and they are currently reading “The Oaks” link here: https://www.amazon.com/Oaks-Patrick-Brown/dp/1442100338. Everyone seems to enjoy it. I know, I’m the author and am shamelessly promoting my book. I hope you’ll give it a read. Thanks again for posting recipes. I do all of the cooking in my house and have prepared meals for up to 300 people. So I’m always on the hunt for new and interesting ideas. Cheers!
Good morning Michelle:
So thrilled to hear from you this morning, and read that everyone is doing well. Best wishes to Dominic with his scan, Happy Birthday wishes to Isabelle, and wishing Joseph all the best in track.
Was so wonderful to see your email in my mail today. Continued prayers for Dominic and your family.
You will Love Theo of Golden! Such a wonderfully written novel, and his first.
Smiles, Sue
continuing to remember you all in Prayer – a verse that I hope will encourage “I am the Lord Who Sees you ” – you are not forgotten…
Best wishes for Dominic, and happy Isabelle and Joseph are doing well. Stay strong Michelle, the Lord is with you. Enjoy your sunny days!
Much love and prayers for Dominic. Nora Roberts 3 book series The Seven Rings. Couldn’t put it down. Just read her The Liar. Another awesome book by her. Watched Draft. Living in AZ and being from Pittsburgh was happy to see they got Max Iheanachor. Hope he is great. Love the potholder.
What a wonderful surprise to see your email this morning. Belated b’day wishes to Isabelle and what nice work she did on the pot holder! Keeping Dominic in my prayers as usual for a good report this trip. Nice to hear the children try new sports and activities as they navigate growing up and learning new things. Two books Iread and enjoyed already this year are: Love in a Tuscan Kitchen by Sheryl Ness- a memoir and The Woman with All the Answers by Linda Green – an unusual and delightful take on modern technology.
Happy Weekend to all
